Yarmouth (1959) in the fitting out basin.
A 2¼ square roll film negative. The bow of the Type 12 frigate Yarmouth (1959) from high on a crane alongside the east side of the fitting out basin of John Brown & Co Ltd's shipyard at Clydebank. The photographer is looking down, to port and forward showing the starboard side of the ship. Work is proceeding on the air lookout position and the director support tower above the bridge. A large hole has been cut in the foredeck between stations 7 and 11 for the installation of the port Davey Paxman diesel generator. The positions of the breakwaters have been marked on the deck. Everything aft of station 40 is out of the picture. In the background is the dock engineers shop with the plumbers shop behind it. The bottom plating of the tanker Kent (1960), yard number 708, can be seen in the top left corner.
