Yarmouth (1959) ship's crest.
A half plate glass plate negative. A close view of a cast metal crest for the Type 12 frigate Yarmouth (1959) under construction in John Brown & Co Ltd's shipyard at Clydebank. The crest is hexagonal with the ship's name at the top edge under a navy crown. The heraldic creature in the middle is a gold headed lion rampant on a red background with a silver fish tail on a blue bavckground, described as 'Per pale Gules and Azure a Lion passant guardant in pale Or dimidiated with a Herring naiant in pale Argent'. The crest is said to measure 20½ inches by 16½ inches. A vertical format image.
