Rhyl (1959). In the P.Os mess on 2 deck.
A 35mm roll film negative. On board the Rothesay class type 12 frigate Rhyl (1959) in Devonport Dockyard. In the P.Os mess on the starboard side of 2 deck between 16 and 21½ stations. The photographer is looking to port and forward from the starboard aft corner showing a settee berth with a mirror above it on the right. A new dresser unit, still covered in polythene, is on the left with a greatcoat cupboard beyond it. An easy chair and two coffee tables are in the centre of the mess. An Observer magazine is on one of the tables and a brass shell case ashtray is on the other. A triple bunk is in the background. The photograph was taken prior to 9 May 1972.
