A 35mm roll film negative. On board the Rothesay class type 12 frigate Rhyl (1959) in Devonport Dockyard. In the junior rates mess on 3 deck between 19 and 23 stations. The photographer is looking forward and to port from the starboard side of the mess showing the stairs up to 2 deck with the watertight hatch leading down to 4 deck behind them. A nest of small lockers is on the left with kit and greatcoat lockers on the right. In the right foreground is a 3 tier bunk unit rigged for sitting and beyond it are the flooding valves for the 4.5 inch shell room on 4 deck. The photograph was taken prior to 9 May 1972.
