A 35mm roll film negative. On board the Rothesay class type 12 frigate Rhyl (1959) in Devonport Dockyard. In the junior rates mess on 3 deck between 23 and 27 stations. The photographer is looking forward on the port side of the mess showing two kit lockers and a 3 tier bunk unit rigged for sitting on the left. On the right are two kit lockers and a 3 tier bunk unit rigged for sitting. On the forward bulkhead is an electric fire and a fan ventilation unit that has an escape scuttle in the deckhead above. The photograph was taken prior to 9 May 1972. A vertical format negative.
