A 35mm roll film negative. On board the Rothesay class type 12 frigate Rhyl (1959) in Devonport Dockyard. In the junior rates mess on 3 deck between 27 and 31 stations. The photographer is looking aft and slightly to port from the starboard side of the mess showing 2 and 3 tier bunk units rigged for sitting. Suitcase lockers are on the left. A folding table and a tubular steel chair are next to a bunk unit. Electric fires are on a pillar and on the aft bulkhead 31. Also on bulkhead 31 is a small mess locker. The photograph was taken prior to 9 May 1972.
