A 35mm roll film negative. On board the Rothesay class type 12 frigate Rhyl (1959) in Devonport Dockyard. In the junior rates mess on 3 deck between 27 and 31 stations. The photographer is looking aft from the forward end of the mess to starboard of the centreline showing four 3 tier bunk units rigged for sitting. A transformer, a distribution panel and an electric fire are on the aft bulkhead 31. The photograph was taken prior to 9 May 1972. A vertical format negative.
