The photographer is looking aft from the port side forward end of the mess showing kit lockers on the left. On the right are a 2 tier and a 3 tier bunk units rigged for sitting. A bookshelf, an electric fire and a fan ventilation unit are on the aft bulkhead 31. An electric fire is in the left foreground. The photograph was taken prior to 9 May 1972.
