A 35mm roll film negative. On board the Rothesay class type 12 frigate Rhyl (1959) in Devonport Dockyard. In the junior rates mess on 3 deck between 27 and 31 stations. The photographer is looking forward and to port from the port side aft end of the mess showing kit lockers and a greatcoat locker. To the right side of the greatcoat locker is a water fire extinguisher and to the left is a 2 tier bunk unit rigged for sitting. The stairs leading up to 2 deck are prominent. The photograph was taken prior to 9 May 1972.
