A 35mm roll film negative. On board the Rothesay class type 12 frigate Rhyl (1959) in Devonport Dockyard. In the junior rates mess on 3 deck between 57 and 62½ stations. The photographer is looking forward on the starboard side showing triple tier bunks, those on the left being rigged for sleeping and those on the right being rigged for sitting. A fan ventilation unit and an automatic emergency lantern are on the forward bulkhead. The photograph was taken prior to 9 May 1972. A vertical format negative.
