A 35mm roll film negative. On board the Rothesay class type 12 frigate Rhyl (1959) in Devonport Dockyard. In the junior rates mess on 3 deck between 68 and 75 stations. The photographer is looking forward and to starboard from just to starboard of centre at the aft end of the mess. In the foreground are three collapsible tables put together with 9 tubular steel chairs round them. In the left background are various lockers, including kit lockers. Three twin bunk units are rigged for sitting and a nest of bread lockers is beyond them. Two fan ventilation units are against the ship's side. The photograph was taken prior to 9 May 1972.
