A 35mm roll film negative. On board the Rothesay class type 12 frigate Rhyl (1959) in Devonport Dockyard. In the steering gear compartment on 3 deck between 75 and 80 stations. The photographer is looking to port at the aft end of the compartment showing the enclosed steering gear on the right. On the shelf on the left are coils of rope and some sacking. On the port side are lockers for rags and oils. The photograph was taken prior to 9 May 1972. A vertical format negative.
