Hermes (1953). A large galley and servery during conversion.

A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is below decks in a large galley and servery. On the left is a large serving counter with a roller shutter which is closed. Cupboards are under the counter. In the foreground is an electric cooking ring with two stainless steel cabinets at the other end of the bench. Control panels and a notice giving instructions on how to use electric cooking equipment are on the end bulkhead. The photographer has allocated the number 4 to this location.
