Hermes (1953). A large galley and servery during conversion.
A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is below decks in a large galley and servery. In the foreground is an electric cooking ring with two stainless steel cabinets at the other end of the bench. Control panels and a notice giving instructions on how to use electric cooking equipment are on the end bulkhead. On the right is a range of cookers with ventilation and filter units above them and in the corner are two large ovens. The photographer has allocated the number 4 to this location.
