Hermes (1953). A large galley and servery during conversion.

A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is below decks in a large galley and servery. On the left are large boiling coppers. Against the end bulkhead are two ovens, a worktop with shelves under, the circular wooden base for a clock and a notice on safety precautions in operation of galley equipment. A worktop with shelves under is on the right. A seaman's cap, a bag of tea and a tin of milk are on the worktop. The photographer has allocated the number 4 to this location.
