Hermes (1953). A large galley and servery during conversion.

A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is below decks in a large galley and servery. In the foreground is a mixing machine and stacks of roasting tins are on the worktop. A storage and worktop unit with cupboards under and shelves above is against the bulkhead. Many more roasting tins and trays are on the storage unit. A first aid cabinet, a paper towel dispenser, a double door cupboard and a service hatch are at the far end of the storage unit. The photographer has allocated the number 4 to this location.
