Hermes (1953). A large galley and servery during conversion.
A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is below decks in a large galley and servery. In the foreground is a mixing machine and stacks of roasting tins on a worktop. A storage and worktop unit with cupboards under and shelves above is against the bulkhead, with many more roasting tins and trays on it. Three seamen's caps are on the shelf in the corner. Electrical switches and boxes are on the bulkhead protected by a wire mesh door. The photographer has allocated the number 4 to this location.
