A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in a food and drink area with a tile covered deck, possibly the wardroom pantry, on 4 deck. He is looking into a corner of the space showing a stainless steel worktop with sliding door cupboards under and shelves above. On the right is a trunk hatch with a drop-down shelf, possibly a dumb waiter from another deck. A hand written 'no smoking' notice is taped to the trunk. The photographer has allocated the number 9 to this location. A vertical format negative.
