Hermes (1953). In a food and drink area, possibly the wardroom pantry, on 4 deck during conversion.
A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in a food and drink area with a tile covered deck, possibly the wardroom pantry, on 4 deck. He is looking towards an arched doorway showing a small two section electric range with a sink to its left and a stainless steel worktop with cupboard under and shelf above to its right. A hand written 'No smoking' notice is taped to the top of the bulkhead by the doorway and beyond the doorway is a hatch in the bulkhead. The photographer has allocated the number 9 to this location. A vertical format negative.
