Hermes (1953). In the wardroom galley and preparation space on 2 deck during conversion.
A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in the wardroom galley and preparation space on 2 deck between 207 and 224 stations. He is looking to port and slightly forward from the forward end of the galley showing a bench with a holdall on it and shelves under. The door to the wardroom equipment store lobby is next to the bench with an automatic emergency lantern by the side of it. Beyond the archway is the food lift and stainless steel worktops. Above the archway is a tannoy. A stainless steel bench with a 10 dish hot cupboard under and shelves over is against the inboard bulkhead. The photographer has allocated the number 11 to this location.
