A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in the main communications office (upper) on 02 deck looking forward showing three desks. On the port corner desk is a notice and a nest of pigeon holes is above it. The centre desk is labelled as the typist position and has an Olivetti 82 typewriter on it and a shelf for books and manuals above it. The desk on the right is labelled as the 'auto dupl perforating position' and a sailor is operating the machine. Above the desk are three seamen's caps and large stacks of papers, including classified messages. The clock is reading 12.25.
