Hermes (1953). The P.Os. recreation space on 2 deck during conversion.

A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in the P.Os. recreation space on 2 deck between stations 12½ and 27. He is looking aft and to port into the corner in the large lounge area showing a settee bench on the left. Two framed paintings are above the settee bench and between them is a mounted painting of St George and the Dragon. The bar is on the right with the grill shutter closed and by the side of the bar is a shelf unit with four gas cylinders in front of it. A pillar is in the centre of the compartment.
