Hermes (1953). The P.Os. recreation space on 2 deck during conversion.

A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in the P.Os. recreation space on 2 deck between stations 12½ and 27. He is looking aft from the smaller lounge area through the opening into the larger lounge and bar area. Settee benches are against all of the bulkheads. A letter rack is on the right and a cupboard is in the corner to the right of the opening. A clock above the opening is reading 10.48. Two framed paintings with a mounted painting of St George and the Dragon are above the settee bench in the larger lounge area.
