Hermes (1953). In the bakery on 5 deck during conversion.

A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in the bakery on the port side of 5 deck between 20 and 30 stations. He is looking aft and slightly to port showing a belt driven electric pump with a drain well on the right of the arched opening into the bread cooling space. To the left of the opening is the food lift with its watertight cover open and hinged up. A large dough mixing machine is on the left with a stainless steel worktop in the foreground.
