A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in one of the 15 commando group other ranks messes on 4 deck between stations 96 and 177. A part of one of messes before the 3 tier bunks have been installed. On the bulkhead on the extreme left is the support pillar for a pair of bunk units. A padlocked equipment locker is on the left and three tier bunks are on the right. The ventilation trunks are marked 3P32 and 3P38.
