A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in one of the 15 commando group other ranks messes on 4 deck between stations 96 and 177, showing a watertight hatch marked 4/9PB2-00 in the foreground with a Field Surgical Team Medical Element crate marked K5 beyond it. Four large steel units, each with two lifting handles at the end, are on the deck. Rows of three tier bunks are on the left.
