A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in the junior rates and other ranks dining hall and counter area on 4 deck between 40 and 50 stations. He is looking aft and to port showing tables and chairs laid out. On the port bulkhead is a tannoy, a speaker and a fire extinguisher and the door to the barber's shop. An automatic emergency lantern is next to the watertight door on the aft bulkhead and a watertight hatch is near the aft bulkhead on the left. A drinking water cooler is next to the hatch.
