A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in the junior rates and other ranks dining hall and counter area on 4 deck between 40 and 50 stations. He is looking aft from the centre of the hall showing tables and chairs laid out. On the aft bulkhead are two watertight doors, each with an automatic emergency lantern next to it and the one on the left has a fire extinguisher below the lantern. A tannoy is on the bulkhead just under the deckhead.
