A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in the junior rates and other ranks dining hall and counter area on 4 deck between 40 and 50 stations. He is looking aft from between the self service counters. Four hot drinks cylinders are on the left and reels of cable are on the counter behind the cool cabinets. A wire display stand containing small boxes of corn flakes is next to the end counter. An automatic emergency lantern and a fire extinguisher are on the aft bulkhead.
