A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in the junior rates and other ranks dining hall and counter area on 4 deck between 40 and 50 stations. He is looking forward and slightly to starboard from between the tables and the plate counter. Two watertight doors are in the aft bulkhead with an automatic emergency lantern between them. A large watertight hatch with a tannoy above is on the left.
