Hermes (1953). In the assault operations room on 1 deck, during conversion.

A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in the assault operations room on the starboard side of 1 deck between 91 and 107 stations, looking aft and to port. Five communications stations, each equipped with a morse key and two filing trays, are in the corner of the space. An SACC plot is in the foreground. The ventilation trunk at the deckhead has 2K41 on it. On the extreme right is an electric fire and beyond the steel screen is the access to the military briefing cell area.
