A close detail of the starboard side of the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in No. 10 dry dock in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is looking up at the side of the ship from 109 to 117 stations on the starboard side showing the walkway at 3 (hangar) deck level under the alaskan highway in way of the funnel uptake.
