A port broadside view of the Cunard Line cruise ship Carinthia (1925) at anchor in Geirangerfjord off Merok, Norway. Her starboard anchor is deployed and she has an accommodation ladder rigged from her port midships shell doors. Numbers 2 and 16 lifeboats are missing from their falls and are under way on the millpond waters of the fjord, shuttling passengers between the ship and the shore. The ship has a black hull and white upperworks and from 1932 the ship's hull was painted white. The top of the mountain in the background is obscured by low cloud.
