On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in No. 10 dry dock in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is on the starboard side of the flight (No. 1) deck at about 50 station looking aft showing the island superstructure and most of the flight deck. A row of portable cabins is on the port side abaft the deck edge lift.
