A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in No. 10 dry dock in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is on the port side of the flight (No. 1) deck at about 80 station looking to starboard and aft showing the island superstructure. Everything forward of the foremast is out of the picture. Abaft the ship's R12 pendant number on the side of the superstructure is the Royal Marines Commando Combined Operations badge. The landing platform dock Fearless (1963) is undergoing a refit in Prince of Wales No. 5 Basin in the background.
