On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in No. 10 dry dock in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is on the port side of the flight (No. 1) deck at about 80 station looking to starboard showing the forward part of the island superstructure. Everything aft of the funnel is out of the picture. Her pendant number is R12.
