A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in No. 10 dry dock in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in an unidentified senior officer's accommodation on either 2 or 4 decks. The cabin has a hinged non-watertight door on one side and a sliding door to a lobby on the adjoining side. It is equipped with a table, six wooden chairs, two small armchairs, a small dresser, a pedestal desk, two settees that will seat up to six persons, an electric fire, a telephone, a speaker and a television. The photographer is looking into a corner showing the sliding door with the small dresser, a telephone and two small armchairs on the right of it and the table in the foreground. A family of four are standing in the lobby outside the door. Negatives numbers PM3143/11, PM3143/12, PM3143/13 and PM3143/14 are all taken in this cabin.
