Hermes (1953). On board in an unidentified officer's cabin aft on 4 deck during conversion.

A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in No. 10 dry dock in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in an unidentified officer's cabin aft on 4 deck. The cabin is occupied and the officer's personal photographs are on display. The photographer is looking outboard showing the bed settee on the right with cupboards above. On the left are a wardrobe, a wash basin with toiletries cabinet above, a chest of drawers with a portable typewriter on it, and a box enclosing pipes. The scuttle in the ship's side is open and in front of it is a board with a large number of passport style photographs on it. Negatives numbers PM3144/15, PM3144/16 and PM3144/17 are all taken in this cabin.
