A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in No. 10 dry dock in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in an unidentified officer's cabin aft on 4 deck. The cabin is occupied. The photographer is looking inboard showing the sliding door on the right and a desk and chair on the left. Above the desk is a large notice board on which are a photograph of the ship, two calendars, four clips of papers, a pinned up diagram and a notice proclaiming 'A clear desk means a clear conscience'. Two telephones are on the desk and a bookshelf is alongside the sliding door. One of the books is Whitakers Almanack for 1973. A uniformed sailor is outside in the lobby and he also appears in negative number PM3143/14. Negatives numbers PM3144/15, PM3144/16 and PM3144/17 are all taken in this cabin.
