On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in an unidentified junior rates or other ranks mess on the forward end of 4 or 5 deck. He is looking between four triple tier bunk units, three of which are rigged for sitting and one for sleeping. A hinged table and a mirror are on the bulkhead with a chair under the table. Two waste bins are on the deck. A vertical format colour negative. Negatives numbers PM3151/18ACN and PM3151/19ACN are very similar.
