On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is on the centre of the hangar at 134 station on 3 deck looking to port. On the port hangar wall are a vertical steel ladder leading to 2 (gallery) deck, a fire point with chemical foam drum stowage, a drop tank winch, an A/C hydraulic servicing trolley and hose and a cable reel. A fork lift truck is on the right.
