A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) alongside 6 and 7 wharves in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in early July 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is on the flight (1) deck looking to starboard at the port side of the island superstructure at 100 station showing and extension ladder leaning against the island, a steel locker and an angled perforated plate with two gas cylinders attached to it. Next to this plate is a letter box. In the centre is a double height cupboard unit with a multi-point hose connector on deck. A steel ladder is fixed to the side of the island and a steel locker and fire point are to the left.
