Hermes (1953). On the flight (1) deck during conversion.

A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) alongside 6 and 7 wharves in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in early July 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is on the flight (1) deck looking to starboard at the port side of the island superstructure at 95 station showing a double height cupboard unit with a multi-point hose connector on deck on the right. A steel ladder is fixed to the side of the island and a steel locker and fire point are next to it. A cable reel and the open watertight door to the operations room lobby are on the left.
