A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) alongside 6 and 7 wharves in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in early July 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in the port flight (1) deck walkway looking aft towards the LCVP gantries from 123 station. Stairs down to the gallery (2) deck are in the foreground and beyond the flight deck scupper is an avcat fuel pump. The MRS3 director for the GWS22 Seacat missile system can be seen beyond the whip aerial. Large containers, a lorry trailer, drums of paint or powder and some hoses are on the flight deck. The submarine depot ship Forth (1938) is alongside No. 8 wharf in the background. A vertical format negative.
