A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) alongside 6 and 7 wharves in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in early July 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in the port flight (1) deck walkway looking aft towards the LCVP gantries from 138 station. A ladder and a perforated steel plate are in the foreground and the MRS3 director for the GWS22 Seacat missile system can be seen to the right of the walkway. A lorry trailer, drums of paint or powder, wooden pallets and some hoses are on the flight deck. The submarine depot ship Forth (1938) is alongside No. 8 wharf in the background. A vertical format negative.
