A 35 mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) alongside 6 and 7 wharves in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in early July 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in the port flight (1) deck walkway looking aft towards the LCVP gantries from 143 station. Two cable reels are in the right foreground. The MRS3 director for the GWS22 Seacat missile system is on the right abaft the LCVP gantries. Empty paint drums and wooden pallets are on the flight deck. The submarine depot ship Forth (1938) can be seen in the background berthed at No. 8 wharf. A vertical format negative.
