On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) alongside 6 and 7 wharves in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in early July 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in the port flight (1) deck walkway looking to starboard from 146 station. A perforated steel plate is in the foreground with a steel ladder beyond it. Empty paint drums and stacks of timber are on the flight deck. A vertical format negative.
