On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) alongside 6 and 7 wharves in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in early July 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is above the port flight (1) deck walkway looking aft from 166 station. An avcat fuel pump and hose are in the walkway ahead of a flight deck scupper. The aft gantry for the aft LCVP (landing craft vehicle and personnel) is beyond the walkway. A vertical format negative.
