On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) alongside 6 and 7 wharves in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in early July 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is above the port flight (1) deck walkway looking forward from 184 station. An open locker with a drum of chemical foam in it, fire point No. 20 and three cable reels are in the walkway. A dory is in its stowed position on the right with the LCVP gantries beyond it. A vertical format negative.
