On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) alongside 6 and 7 wharves in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in early July 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in the port flight (1) deck walkway looking to starboard and forward from 218 station. A cable reel, an aircraft servicing power outlet unit and an avcay fuel pump unit are in the walkway. Drums of white spirit and paint are on the flight deck. A vertical format negative.
